Harrington & Co. Hatters
An important note from our founder

I owe you an apology.

Thousands of you tried to order our cap and we had sold out faster than we ever imagined. We have made a new and improved batch, and we are giving you an offer we have never put out publicly before.

Harry, in the Harrington & Co. Hatters shop, holding a handwritten sign that reads Please forgive me, with the Denim Vintage Cap on the counter beside him

My name is on this company, so this one is mine to answer for.

When my brother and I started Harrington & Co. we made ourselves one promise. Men over 50 deserve a cap that actually fits, not another one size hat that fits nobody. We make them in small batches, because after thirty years I still do not know a better way of keeping them right.

What I did not plan for was how many of you would want one. Our last batch went in a matter of weeks. Thousands of you came to order and found nothing but greyed out colours, and my inbox filled up with very polite emails from men asking when it was coming back. I read every one of them. I did not enjoy a single one.

We did not just make more of them. We made them better.

While we waited on the new run I sat down and went back through your feedback, including the blunt ones, and then I took the lot into the workshop.

This batch is made to a higher standard than the one that sold out. The first thing you will notice is the comfort. It is softer on the head, it breaks in quicker, and it sits easier through a long day. Same fit, same shape, better cap.

I do not want to just tell you we are back, though. I would rather tell you honestly why it sold out, because the five reasons below are the same five reasons men write to me about.

Five reasons this cap keeps selling out

1

You have outgrown the baseball cap, and you know it

Most men who buy from us arrive the same way. They have worn a baseball cap for thirty years, they catch sight of themselves in a shop window one afternoon, and they think: I am too old to still be dressing like this.

A flat cap fixes that in one move. It is the difference between looking like you are on your way to a game and looking like a man who chose what he put on. Same effort, completely different impression.

2

It goes with everything you already own

This is the part men underestimate. A flat cap is not an occasion hat you keep for good. It works over a coat in February and over a shirt in July, with jeans, with chinos, walking the dog or going out for lunch.

That is why so many of our customers stop rotating hats altogether. One cap, on the hook by the door, worn every single day. It ends up the most used thing in the wardrobe and it cost less than a shirt.

3

It actually fits, because it adjusts to your head

This is the whole reason the company exists. One size fits all normally means one size fits nobody. Too tight across the temples, or it lifts off in the first bit of wind.

Ours has a small antique brass buckle on each side toward the rear. You set it once, to your own head, and it stays there. It fits anywhere from 52 to 62 cm, which covers the overwhelming majority of men who have spent years being told they are between sizes.

It is also why there is no red pressure line across your forehead at the end of the day. The cap gives, so your head does not have to.

Over 6,000 men on Trustpilot got there before you

I would rather you did not take my word for any of this. We have 6,144 reviews on Trustpilot and a 4.7 out of 5, with 83% of those men giving it the full five stars. We reply to 98% of the negative ones as well, because those are the ones worth learning from, and they are the ones that shaped this new batch.

And if it does not fit, you send it back. 100 days.

Every cap carries our 100 Day Fit Guarantee. Wear it, walk in it, put it through a windy afternoon. If it does not sit right on your head, send it back and we will make it right.

A hundred days is a long time to change your mind. I offer it for a simple reason: almost nobody uses it. When a cap genuinely fits, it does not come back.

So here is the offer, and the apology

This batch is up to 50% off, with free shipping and the full 100 day guarantee. It is the lowest we have ever gone on this cap, and it is the only way I could think of to say sorry properly to the men who got a sold out page last time.

When this batch is gone it is gone until the next one is ready. I would rather tell you that plainly now than write you another apology in a month.

What men actually wrote

These are straight off our Trustpilot page, most of them from the last fortnight. I have not picked out only the five stars. The four star ones tell you more.

Arrived today and fits straight out of the bag. So comfortable, you wouldn't know you were wearing it. I have a larger than average head and struggle getting comfortable hats and caps. This one is different.

Very easy to navigate and order on the website. I'm 70 years old, and these caps remind me of the caps I wore over 50 years ago driving my Triumph Spitfire convertible around Southern California.

Appears to be a class company producing class hats that go perfectly for a man my age, 74, who previously has always worn a baseball cap. Time to go out on a ledge and try something different.

A very good cap. Four stars only because it could have been a very little bigger. Having said that, it could stretch that little bit, and then I would give five stars.

I had what I considered to be a small fray on the underside of the cap's bill. I contacted them and sent a picture. They replied the next day and sorted it. Harrington & Co. are amazing.

The questions I get asked most

How can this hat be one size fits all?
Because it is not one fixed size. It adjusts. There is a small antique brass buckle on each side toward the rear, and you set it to your own head once. That covers 52 to 62 cm, which takes in the great majority of men who have spent years being told they are between sizes. If you are right at the top of that range, set both buckles out fully before you decide.
Will it be too hot in summer and too cold in winter?
It is breathable cotton with a low, light crown, so it stays comfortable through summer walks and warm afternoons. It is not a lined winter cap that traps heat. In the colder months it sits close enough to the head to pull down over the ears and take the edge off the wind. If you run hot, the lighter colours, Beige and Field Olive, are the ones to look at. For winter most men go Coal Black or Denim Blue.
Is this a cheap hat produced in China?
It is $30 rather than five or six times that for one reason. We sell direct, in small batches, with no middleman and no designer mark up. What you are paying for is breathable cotton, real antique brass side buckles instead of plastic sliders, and a shape that has been revised off customer feedback rather than left alone. If it were cheaply made I could not afford to give you 100 days to send it back, and we would not have 6,144 reviews at 4.7 out of 5 with replies from us on 98% of the negative ones. Judge it on the reviews and on the guarantee, not on my word.
Which colour should I start with?
Denim Blue is the one most men buy first. It goes with almost everything already in the wardrobe. Coal Black is the next most popular for anything smarter. Plenty of customers come back for a second within a month, which is why Buy 2 saves a further 15% and Buy 3 or more a further 25%, stacked on top of the sale price.
